Abstract

The paper examines the main trends and challenges in the development of sociology in Africa and Latin America. The author identifies a number of approaches in relation to the place, “non-Western sociology” in the system of modern sociological knowledge, as well as tries to identify the specific features of sociological knowledge in each area. Particular attention is given to creativity (works) of key sociologists in South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.
