The journal “Vestnik Moskovskogo universiteta. Seriya 18. Sotsiologiya i politologiya” ("Moscow State University Bulletin. Series 18. Sociology and Political Science") was founded in 1995 within the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lomonosov Moscow State University. It is an integral part of the Moscow University Bulletin series. The journal was founded to provide the scholars of Lomonosov Moscow State University, their Russian and foreign colleagues with an opportunity to publish their researches, to exchange opinions and ideas, to bring attention to the most relevant, promising and interesting areas of social and political sciences, theory and history of social sciences, social practice and politics.
The “Vestnik Moskovskogo universiteta. Seriya 18. Sotsiologiya i politologiya” ("Moscow State University Bulletin. Series 18. Sociology and Political Science") journal earned respect in Russia and abroad. The journal is included into the List of Russian peer-reviewed journals publishing the main research results of candidate and doctoral dissertations by Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation (VAK List) and recommended by the expert committee on philosophy, sociology, political and cultural research. The Journal is registered in the national bibliographic database Russian Science Citation Index. The journal website and scientific online library (eLibrary) provide access to journal content on-line.
The constantly updated editorial board includes members of the Faculty of Sociology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, as well as representatives of other Russian and foreign universities and scientific communities.
The first editor-in- chief of the journal from1995 through 2014 was the Dean of the Faculty of Sociology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Vladimir I. Dobrenkov.
Since 2015, the Editor-in-chief of the journal has been the Dean of the Faculty of Sociology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Doctor of Sociology, Professor Nadezhda G. Osipova.
